Troubleshooting  

Here you can troubleshoot common problems that occur with hoists. Please read the warning below. Match the Trouble section to your problem and click on the fix button to troubleshoot it!
Section 000: Surface Lifts  (Power Unit Section)
Trouble Cause / Repair 
001. Electric Motor does not run

002. Electric motor runs but will not raise lift.
003.  Electric motor runs-raises unloaded but will not raise vehicle.
004. Lift slowly settles down.
005. Slow lifting speed or oil blowing out filter breather cap.
006. Power unit noisy.
007. Lift stops short of full rise.

Section 100: General Two Post Section
Trouble Cause / Repair
101.  Lift going up un-level.

102. Anchors will not stay tight.
103. Locking latches do not engage.
104. Lift chatters on the way up.
105. Slow lowering speed.
106. Lift will not lower.
107. Broken Equalizer cable.
108. When raising lift, adapter wants to move from pick up point.
109. Arm drooping.  (Arm dragging on floor).
Section 200: General Four Post Section
Trouble Cause / Repair
201. Lift will not lower.
202. Oil leaking out of breather.
203. Latches will not engage on the way up.
204. Lift chattering and/or vibrating.
Section 300: Semi and Full Hydraulic Lift
Trouble Cause / Repair
301. Lift won't raise at all.
302. Lift raises slow or won't raise load.
303. Lift lowers slow.
304. Lift raises slowly with air valve closed.
305. Lift creeps down with air valve closed.  (Semi Hydraulic)
306. Lift "jumping" or "drooping"
307. Oil blows out exhaust muffler.
308. Lift raises vehicle but stops short of full rise.
309. Lift "chatters" going up or down.
310. Scratches on plunger.
311. Oil leaking at seal.
312. Lift will not lower after weight is off of lift.
Section 400: Inground Side by Side Lifts
Trouble Cause / Repair
401. Chattering lift.
402. Chattering lift.  (Rack and Pinion)
403. Lift will not lower to floor.
404. Lift lock not engaging.
Section 500: Inground Electric-Oil Hydraulic Lifts
Trouble Cause / Repair
501. Lift won't raise at all.
502. Lift raises slow or won't raise load.
503. Motor stops, blown circuit breaker when lift reaches full stroke.
504. Power unit making excessive noise.
Section 600: Front Movable Plunger Lifts
Trouble Cause / Repair
601. Front piston hard to move.
602. Front piston will not move when using ratchet assembly.
603. Front piston will not move when using hydraulic drive.
604. Air lock not engaging.
605. Air lock not releasing.
Section 700:  Environmental In-Ground Lifts (S.M.A.R.T. Lifts)
Trouble Cause / Repair
701. Electric motor does not run.
702. Electric motor runs but will not raise.
703. Lift slowly settles down.
704. Slow lifting speed or oil blowing out filler breather cap.
705. Power unit noisy.
706. Lift stop short of full rise.
707. Lift will not lower.
708. Locking latch does not engage.
709. Lift chatters.
